Why Does Libra’s Indecisiveness Drive People So Crazy?

“What should we eat tonight?”

Normally, this is not the kind of question you would expect to put a relationship under serious strain.

With Libra, sometimes this is exactly where it starts.

Italian sounds good, but you had pasta last week. Sushi could work, but not everyone likes raw fish. You could try that new place, except the reviews are a little mixed. Staying home and eating there is not exactly a bad idea either. Meanwhile, you are getting dangerously close to chewing the edge of the table from hunger.

“You pick if you want.”

No. You are not getting off that easily.

There is a little real-life exhaustion behind all the jokes about Libra’s indecisiveness. Libra usually does not struggle to decide because they cannot see an option. Quite the opposite. They see too many.

If most people are standing in front of two doors, Libra may already be wondering why nobody has mentioned a third.

Libra’s Problem Isn’t a Lack of Options. It’s Too Many Possibilities

For some people, making a decision is pretty straightforward. Which one do you want more? Pick that one.

Libra’s mind does not always work like that.

The moment they choose one thing, they also see the possibility they are giving up. If they choose one restaurant, they are ruling out the other. If they accept one job, another path may close. If they say yes to a relationship, they are not only choosing one person. They are also leaving other possible futures behind.

The bigger the decision gets, the more things end up on both sides of the scale.

And it is not only their own desire they are thinking about. They also consider how other people will feel, whether the decision will disturb the balance around them, and whether they might regret it later.

When people ask why Libra is so indecisive, a few things are usually tangled together:

  • Being able to see the good side of both options

  • Disliking the idea of making the wrong choice

  • Not wanting to hurt someone else

  • Thinking about the possibility of regretting it later

  • Wanting the decision to feel as fair as possible

None of that sounds particularly bad on paper.

In real life, though, it is 9:30 p.m. and you still have not decided where to eat.

This is usually the point where people start losing it.

Libra Says “Whatever You Want,” but Do They Really Mean It?

Libra has another habit that can drive people up the wall.

Sometimes, instead of making the decision themselves, they hand it over to the other person.

“I don’t mind.”

“You choose.”

“Either one is fine.”

So you choose.

And from that tiny expression on their face, you immediately realize that apparently neither one was actually fine.

Libra deserves a little pushback here. Being easygoing is not the same thing as making your own preferences invisible.

Expecting people to read your mind and then feeling hurt because they picked the wrong thing is not exactly the most graceful behavior in the world.

Sometimes Libra delays a decision because they want to avoid conflict. Choosing one option also means rejecting another. Saying yes to one thing means saying no to something else. Ideally, Libra would like nobody to get hurt, no door to slam shut, and life to somehow arrive at a beautiful solution all by itself.

Life does not really have that habit.

Sometimes you actually have to choose.

Indecisiveness Is Funny in Small Things and Exhausting in Big Ones

Standing in front of a menu for ten minutes can be funny for a while.

But when the same behavior starts showing up in work, relationships, moving, or breakups, it becomes a different story.

Libra may have known for a long time that they want to end a relationship, but they cannot quite throw away the possibility that maybe things will get better. They may be unhappy at work but still wonder whether the new job would really be any better. Even when they feel one decision is probably right, they keep finding valid points on the other side too.

From the outside, this can be unbearable.

“If you don’t want it, leave.”

“If you love them, stay.”

“If you want the offer, take it.”

Such beautiful, short sentences.

If only human life could actually be solved with sentences that short.

What Libra can see, and what everyone around them may be tired of seeing, is that most decisions are not completely good or completely bad. Sometimes there are two good options. Sometimes there are two bad ones.

That is why saying Libra struggles to make decisions simply because they lack willpower is a little too easy.

But that does not mean it is not exhausting for the people around them.

Patience can start running out when Libra keeps:

  • Reopening the same issue over and over

  • Doubting the decision immediately after making it

  • Asking everyone for another opinion

  • Waiting until the very last minute

  • Complaining about the options without actually choosing one

At some point, people become willing to accept the wrong decision.

As long as there is finally a decision.

If Libra Is Trying to Please Everyone, What Do They Actually Want?

I think this is the most interesting part of Libra’s indecisiveness.

If you take everyone else into account for long enough, eventually it can become hard to hear your own voice.

What does Mom think? What would their partner want? What did their friend say? Which option makes more sense? Which one is more elegant? Which one will create fewer problems?

Okay.

But what do you want?

Sometimes, after Libra has considered every possible angle, that is the real question left standing.

Being fair is a good thing. Thinking about other people is a good thing too. Weighing the consequences of a decision is part of being an adult.

But life is not one endless jury meeting.

Not every choice has to be perfect. Some decisions only reveal whether they were right after we make them. Sometimes we go to the wrong restaurant. Sometimes we take the wrong job. Sometimes we think something through for hours and still get it wrong.

Maybe accepting that is what makes choosing a little easier for Libra.

Because the exhausting part is not really having too many options.

It is believing they have to find the perfect one every single time.

And yes, once in a while, someone may need to remind Libra that tonight’s restaurant choice is not going to determine the fate of humanity.
